R-22 Freon Phaseout

Every once in a while we get questions from our customers about the use of freon R-22 as a refrigerant and its scheduled phaseout. The EPA has put up a nice website explaining the time frame for this phaseout and some of the concerns consumers may have.

In a nutshell, the refrigerant will continue to be used in new refrigeration systems until 2010 & produced until 2020, after that replacement refrigerants will be available just like when R-12 was phased out in the mid 90's. Click here for additional information.

Beer Cave Cooler

Over the last couple of years we've seen walk in "beer caves" pop-up all over grocery stores and liquor marts. These cooler units serve not only as a convenience aspect to the customer but also as marketing tool for the business owner or retailer since their customers can have the whole experience of "picking their own" cold beverages from the actual storage cooler.

Ice Production Basics

Madison Gas and Electric (a power company serving the city of Madison, WI) created a nice website describing the basic concepts behind ice production and the different types of ice used among the different industries (packaging, fish & seafood etc).
